Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute & Hospital (TMUCIH) launched the Second Live Surgery Week

Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute & Hospital (TMUCIH) celebrated its 160th anniversary by launching the Second Live Surgery Week with Boao Surgery Live Moment once again from June 21 to 25.

Innovative medical technology, improved diagnosis and treatment, as well as professional competence are essential to the hospital’s development and competitiveness. To promote the development of surgical techniques through continuous exploration and exchange, 77 live stream teams and 3 surgery management teams from the hospital’s 21 surgical departments performed live operations on the Internet which were closely related to the latest surgical development, academic research and surgical management. They also showed the advantage of surgery featuring function preservation and reconstruction which is characterized by minimally invasive surgical techniques, such as thoracoscopic, laparoscopic, and Da Vinci robot-assisted surgery. 112 operations and 35 academic conferences were carried out within the five days, and 150,000 physicians nationwide watched and interacted with the live surgery.

In the future, TMUCIH will keep on adhering to its motto -- “to provide patients with uttermost integrity and state-of-the-art medicine, to improve our profession with ingenuity and innovations”, pursuing high-quality development, and keeping abreast of the scientific and technological development of tumor treatment. It will strengthen the building of a technological innovation system through improving the multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment model based on surgery and exploring new models and technology for tumor prevention and treatment. It will practice the Healthy China strategy of “build by all, shared by all, health for all” by playing a leading role in Tianjin and the whole country and sharing normative and elaborate surgical techniques with primary medical institutions.
