The department of Pancreatic cancer deals with the diagnosis, treatment and management of benign and malignant tumor of the pancreas, biliary tract, liver, spleen, and related diseases as well as retroperitoneal tumors.

 

There are 36 beds in the ward. 28 medical staff including 10 surgeons and 18 nurses attend in daily clinical work of department.Treatment for pancreatic cancer in our department is based on sophisticated technology and advanced equipment.Nearly 4,200 out-patients visit the department in 2010, among which 1,000 are admitted in the in-patient department, and over 300 operations have been performed in 2010.

 

Surgical treatment is the main method for pancreatic cancer, we also adopt the advanced therapeutic experience in a wide range containing radiation therapy, chemotherapy, biological therapy and so on , aims at real individual treatment.  

 

In addition to the basic pancreaticoduodenectomy and distal pancreanectomy, many new methods and techniques are applied, such as regional resection of portal vein and jugular vein graft, autologous islet cell transplantation after total pancreatectomy, extended dissection of lymph node around aortic artery, resection of hilar cholangiocarcinoma for upper bile duct cancer and other difficult radical surgery. In addition, we adopt cryo-surgery and radiation particle inplantation to cure advanced prancreatic cancer.
