The Ninth Bangchui Island Cancer Frontier Forum
The Ninth Bangchui Island Cancer Frontier Forum & Ceremony for conferring the Sun Simiao Award for Outstanding Contribution to Cancer Research and Treatment, which was hosted by Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute & Hospital (TMUCIH), in cooperation with Bangzhui Island Oncology Society and China Anti-Cancer Association, was successfully held from October 30 to November 1, 2020.
For the whole of the event the discussion focused on developing concepts with a small-scale high-level elite forum which brought together more than 300 academicians in the field of cancer, outstanding young experts and scholars from all over the country to facilitate sharing and exchanging ideas for a new direction for the future of tumor innovation research.

Ceremony for conferring the Sun Simiao Award for Outstanding Contribution on Cancer Research and Treatment
Set up by the Forum in 2012“the Sun Simiao Award for Outstanding Contribution in Cancer Research and Treatment” is awarded to internationally renowned experts who have made outstanding contributions in cancer research. It aims specifically to commend outstanding achievements in the field of cancer. Since the award was first established in 2012, 7 leading experts in oncology had been honored with this award. At this year’s forum, Prof. Chen Dong, the discoverer of immune Th17 cells, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of Immunology Institute, Tsinghua University, was awarded the Sun Simiao Award for Outstanding Contribution to Cancer Research and Treatment.
On receiving the award, Prof. Chen Dong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of Immunology Institute, Tsinghua University, gave his acceptance speech and then delivered the lecture
The forum aims to provide an important platform for learning, sharing and exchanging cutting edge results and information on cancer research and treatment, discussing some of the “crucial problems" which remain to be solved in the current cancer research field, broadening the academic perspectives, reaching a consensus on the future direction of cancer research, and providing a new direction for tumor innovation research.

The three-day Forum arranged seminars on special topics including Academicians' seminar, Bangchui island oncology society seminar, Society directors’ seminar and Youth seminar. It focused on the new progress in basic research and clinical diagnosis and treatment of cancer through 30 plenary reports sessions’. The Forum will deepen the interdisciplinary research and promote innovation and transformation in the field of cancer research through dialogue, the discussion of hot topics and the sharing of different points of view.
