Sino-UK Bilateral Seminar on Hospital Management

Sino-UK Bilateral Seminar on Hospital Management successfully held on June 10, 2022 in Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute & Hospital (TMUCIH). The seminar was held in a combination format of online and offline. Over 100 participants attended on-site.

Prof. Chen Kexin, the Vice President of TMUCIH chaired the opening ceremony and welcomed all the attendees who came online and offline. Prof. Lu Wei, the Secretary of the Party Committee of TMUCIH delivered a welcome remarks and mentioned the seminar would be a great opportunity to share the leadership experiences and perspectives in terms of hospital management and exchange the ideas about periodical construction between China and UK.

The seminar invited Lord Peter Carter, the Former CEO of the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust and the Former CEO of the Royal College of Nursing, Prof. Kamran Abbasi, the Chief-in-Editor of British Medical Journal (BMJ), Prof. Ying Guoguang, the Vice-President of Tianjin Cancer Institute and Executive Chief-in-Editor of Cancer Biology and Medicine (CBM), and Prof. Zhou Xuan, the Deputy Director of Department of Maxillofacial & Otorhinolaryngology Cancer, TMUCIH to present academic lectures. Prof. Yu Jinpu, the Vice-President of Tianjin Cancer Institute and Prof. Liu Huiqin, the Director of the editorial office of CBM chaired the academic session.


Academic session

 Lord Peter Carter took NHS as the real example to discuss how the leadership work on hospital administration post COVID-19 pandemic. Prof. Zhou Xuan illustrated the discipline development and talent cultivation with integrating clinic,training and education, research, prevention, and health management in the Department of Maxillofacial & Otorhinolaryngology Cancer, TMUCIH. Prof. Ying Guoguang introduced how CBM journal is operated by TMUCIH and its influence at home and abroad Prof. Kamran Abbasi talked about how researchers published their academic papers in major international medical journals, such as BMJ, and stated the tips about how to write a high quality level academic report and article.

Besides that, in the Q&A session, 5 young professional doctors communicated with Lord Peter Carter and Prof. Kamran Abbasi to share the perspectives on how to play the leadership role on clinical department administration, how to show off themselves in front of hospital managers, and how to define and choose an attractive paper topic when they submitted to the major international medical journals.


Q&A session 

The seminar was a high caliber dialogue between hospital and British experts with a strong academic atmosphere and lively discussions, so as to further improving the hospital management skill post pandemic and promoting the development of CBM English periodical.
